Guitar Total Scales Techniques and Applications: Lessons for Beginner through Professional

This book started out as a manual I wrote to use with my private students because I didn't like any of the other method books available. Back then I was teaching at a music store and we had a large selection of books, but none taught the entire fretboard. Some were very difficult to understand, and many assumed the reader already had experienced knowledge of playing guitar. I wanted a book that would take a reader from beginner through professional if that is his or her desire. I never found one, so I wrote it myself.

Mark John Sternal

Musician, Educator and Author Mark John Sternal began teaching his trademark method to private guitar students in 1991. He was only 17, with one year left of High School before he would attend Richard Daley College in Chicago. By 1994 Mark relocated to Florida, and with him came the manuscript of his first book. The piece was titled Total Scales Techniques and Applications, which Mark sold to his private students. One afternoon a student's friend came into the music store where Mark was teaching. He explained that he had seen the manuscript and wanted to purchase one for himself. This transaction sparked the idea to put the manuscript up for sale online. The manuscript sold so well that Mark was able to quit his 'other job' as a student loan consultant, and pursue music full time. By 2002, fueled by user feedback and testimonials, Mark's growing number of music instruction titles awarded him national recognition. In 2004 his proven methods became available to the retail music industry. For most of 2006 and all of 2007 MJS held the #1 best selling music instruction slot at some of the largest music and book stores in the United States. In March 2008 MJS Music & Entertainment introduces Mark's latest guitar method, GUITAR DVD #1 Beginner Basics & Beyond.
